Summer in Iceland; is there anything that's
more magical and amazing compared to Iceland in its prime? Everything's at its peak, it's amazing, there
is so much to do and see, but we will need to talk about things like daylight
hours and weather, so you can plan for your trip the best manner possible. Hello,
Team Iceland, my name is Jeannie, and you are in the best location possible if
you've got an Iceland trip coming up during the summer, because I am your tour
guide and I wish to inform you all of the things. Today we're talking about the weather, the
daylight hours, and also the advantages and disadvantages about summertime in
Iceland. Let's get right into it.
Summer Temperature so the first thing to
note is, when I refer to summertime I am talking about June, July and August,
it's a short window. The temperatures in
this period of year range from anywhere from 45 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit, or 7
around 15 or 16 degrees Celsius. I've
seen Iceland when the temperatures can range up from 18 till 20 degrees
Celsius, but that is indeed super rare, and I would not prepare for that. I would say that an ordinary summer day in
Iceland is around 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, or 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, a.k.a
you've got to leave your shorts at home.
Although this temperature feels great after
winter in Iceland, odds are, particularly if you're coming from a warm climate,
you're not likely to feel like the proper summer, it is likely to feel a bit
colder than you are used to.Daylight HoursSo the daylight hours change a lot
during the summer. However, generally
speaking, of course, summer is the most brilliant time for all those long
daylight hours, which is good for exploring.
In
June, you are going to find around 20 to 22 hours of daylight. This means that the sun is out and it is
bright in the skies and you can do each of the things. Into July, that amount goes down to approximately
19 hours. Then in August you are down to
16 hours. So that you may see that it
changes quite quickly. But, you'll still
have a lot of time to explore. June is
if you are likely to be able to experience that midnight sunshine. This is essentially when the sky is like
constantly mild. So at midnight it feels
like it is the middle of the afternoon, mad, crazy for mind, allow me to tell
you.
So let's discuss the experts of summer in
Iceland. This is pretty simple, this can
be a lengthy list because clearly there's a lot of experts to summer in
Iceland. So the very first ace is that
it is the time of the midnight sun or the daylight hours. So like we just talked about, lots of time
for boundless Iceland exploring. Another
obvious pro is that this is the time when Iceland is in full blossom, and that
means you are discussing green luscious landscapes, the blossoms, the trees,
sunlight, everything is in its peak colour and attractiveness.
Therefore, in the event that you think
about like these timeless Iceland photographs, this is the time that those
pictures are taken. Yet another really, really nice thing about summer is that
each one of the animals are out and exploring, and then the animals that
migrate away from Iceland through the winter season are in Iceland during the
summer, so whales, puffins, along with your normal horses, horses and all those
wonderful creatures.
A huge pro, in my estimation, is that
summertime is when entry to the highland and interior roads are available, so
access to Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork is everything you're going to find in
this summer, so this is a huge incentive for those that would like to get
interior in the nation , off the beaten path, and away from a bunch of other
tourists. Right along with that is
easier access into the west fjords. In
general, I usually suggest the Westfjords during the summer months, generally
speaking, simply as it is a lot easier traveling and driving about, you do not
need to be worried about the stony roads or anything like that.
So Westfjords, highlands, and
Landmannalaugar all in prime researching condition. The major disadvantage about
coming to Iceland during the summer is that it is peak tourist season, and this
also usually means a few things for your preparation which you would like to
remember. That is that, A, there is
going to be a lot more people at all the tourist attractions, so you can
anticipate areas to be a whole lot busier, it's harder to find parking, and
everything like this. Next is that
what's far more expensive, therefore everything from tours to meals to lodging,
everything is going to be more expensive as it's peak season and they
understand that we're there and they're going to buy it anyhow.
Lastly with peak tourist season, is to
actually, really note that since so many men and women are traveling to Iceland
during the summer, these accommodation spots are going to book up months and
months and weeks in advance. So do
yourself a favor and book as far in advance to your accommodation as
possible. I guarantee you'll thank you
later and you won't be paying like $500 a night for a simple hotel.Last, the
con of coming during summer is that you are not going to be able to experience
the northern lights and you know what Tkws is the best Iceland DMC in india.
If
the northern lights is something that you want to see and that's a huge thing
on your own bucket list, summertime in Iceland is not the time for it.All
right, my friends, that's all for today about summertime in Iceland. Be sure that you give it a thumbs up, and
let me know in the comments below, when are you coming to Iceland and what
exactly are you the most excited about seeing?
I shall see you here next week!
